I have created this page in order to share not just my own views on the use of marijuana for medical purposes, but for others to share their thoughts on this subject as well.
My first experience with marijuana was during my teenage years and it was purely for recreational purposes. I found that it not only helped me to relax but helped to clear my mind. I have always struggled with test anxiety and found that when I smoked marijuana right before taking a test I would relax enough to relieve my stress and could therefore be more focused. What I learned was that I did better on my test when smoking then when I didn't smoke. I also found that when smoking marijuana, it helped with my depression.
When I got into my mid thirties I developed arthritis throughout my entire body. Each year it has grown more and more intense. I tried just about everything that modern medicine has to offer in order to relieve my pain.
About three years ago my arthritis reached a point that I had to resort to using a walker and/or a wheelchair. I not only looked like someone old enough to be my grandmother but I felt like that person as well. It kept me from living my life the way I should have been able to at my age. I had to train myself to live an entirely different way and I was not a happy person. My depression was also beginning to reach a high point also.
I was being treated for bi-polar, (I learned this is where my depression had come from), and my medication had been changed so many times it got to the point of confusion. My body ached all the time, which kept me in constant battles with my depression. I felt helpless and decided to take charge of my life again.
That was two years ago. I decided to clean my body of all the different medications I was on. I stopped taking everything. For the first couple of weeks it was a rough road dealing with my mood swings but I made it through. I was just smoking marijuana occasionally and found that when I did my arthritis pain was not quite as bad. I started discussing this with some others and doing some research and found that many others were also using marijuana for this as well as other medical issues.
My husband and I are firm believers in more natural, herbal remedies for many different medical issues. We grow several different kinds of herbs that are used from poultices to spices for food. We also use many wildflowers for the same issues. My own opinion on marijuana use is that it is a plant that was given to us, by what ever god you may believe in, for our use just as many other plants.
It is a shame that there are so many people out there who are fighting against marijuana and allowing people to suffer simply because of lack of knowledge. People need to stop being so closed minded. It has been proven time and again of the many different ways that marijuana has helped people who are suffering with many medical issues. It helps people with things anywhere from arthritis to cancer. I truly believe that if those who are so opposed to it being used for medical purposes were suffering or had a loved one suffering, as so many do from these issues, that they would be doing whatever it took to relieve that suffering, even if it meant using marijuana.
I no longer suffer anywhere as badly as I did three years ago. My walker is sitting in the closet and it's only on rare occasions that I need to use my cane or a wheelchair. My depression rarely rears it's ugly head. My mind is clear and I am more able to be my true self. As for myself, I will not only keep using marijuana to relieve my own pain, but I will continue my support for others as well.
I would love to hear others thoughts on this issue, whether they be for or against. Please feel free to share those thoughts here. No one will be judged. I created this for us to learn from one another.
